Assertion Smart Logging

Pay attention, don’t let life go by you. Fall in love with the back of your cereal box.

Jerry Seinfeld

Once upon a time, an enterprise communications system was a monolithic “application” from a single vendor. Whether is was a Meridian SL1 from Northern Telecom or an Avaya Definity, an entire call flow was typically controlled by a single vendor running on that vendor’s proprietary hardware. While there were a significant number of deficiencies with this approach, debugging a problem was constrained by the reduced number of outside dependencies. If a call failed, there were fewer places to look and point fingers at.

Those days are long gone, though, and most systems are made up of a components from many different vendors. Basic call processing from Vendor A has been augmented by call recording from Vendor B, session border control from Vendor C, contact center functionality from Vendor D, IVR from Vendor E, etc. That’s a lot of touch points and a lot of places where things can go wrong. Digging through the various logs and alarms can overwhelm even the most experienced voice engineers.

Enter Assertion’s Smart Logging. Smart Logging is a log pipeline that connects to your on premise voice services in order to pull, display, and correlate logs, alerts, call detail reports, events (e.g. certificate expiration), failed recordings, and a number of other communications incidents into a single pain of digital glass.

Smart Logging benefits include:

In a addition to operational issues, losing call recordings can become compliance nightmares. Detection of those occurrences alone can justify Smart Logging.

This short video nicely sums up Smart Logging features and value. Note words and phrases like proactive, real-time, security, and automate workflows.
