A few weeks ago, I shared the work I have been doing in creating bots for Google Home smart speakers. As cool as those applications are (in my humble opinion), I don’t ever want to be thought of as a one trick pony, so I recently turned my attention to doing the same for Amazon’s Alexa platform. While the process for creating applications/bots is similar for both platforms, there are enough differences to make things a little interesting/challenging. I am still unsure which platform I like best. In fact, I may never come to a conclusion and simply choose to accept their individual strengths and weaknesses as a wash.
I, of course, feel that seeing (or in this case, hearing) is essential to appreciating a smart speaker application. So, without any further ado, here are some of the things my latest creation can do.
I should point out that I put the sensor outside in my backyard and it’s a cold day here in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
